Rupali Ganguly, Esha Verma

TV star Rupali Ganguly has been making headlines due to her conflict with her stepdaughter Esha Verma. After Esha made some huge allegations against Anupamma actress, she filed a defamation lawsuit of Rs 50 crores. Now, according to the latest reports, Rupali will also be filing a criminal defamation case against Esha.

The Bombay High Court. Rupali’s lawyer Sana Raees Khan, confirmed that they are pushing both civil and criminal remedies after the Anupamaa actress’s stepdaughter Esha made serious allegations against her. India.com quoted Sana, “Yes, we have filed a criminal defamation complaint following the civil one. Both remedies, civil and criminal, are being pursued. No individual should endure the trauma of public defamation without consequences for the perpetrator. This case underscores that justice is a shield against malicious attempts to harm one’s reputation.”

What went wrong between Eisha and Rupali?

Esha Verma accused Rupali of having an affair with Esha’s father, Ashwin Verma, while he was still married to Esha’s mother, Sapna. Esha also alleged that Rupali’s son was “illegitimate” and claimed that Rupali had gotten pregnant before marrying Ashwin. Rupali had remained quiet about the accusations until she filed Rs 50 crore defamation case. Later Eisha deleted the posts, and even made her Insta account private.

Talking to NDTV, Sana said, “The Rs 50 Crore amount specified in the defamation notice represents the serious damage caused to Ms Rupali Ganguly’s personal and professional reputation due to baseless and defamatory statements made against her. This amount reflects not only the emotional and reputational harm but also the impact on her career, which she has dedicated years to building. Ms. Ganguly believes that such false allegations should have significant consequences and discourage similar actions in the future. The demand underscores our commitment to holding individuals accountable for malicious actions that can harm one’s dignity and livelihood.”
