Regina’s first baby of 2025: Welcome to the world, Brynlee!

For one Saskatchewan family, the big New Year’s countdown to 2025 didn’t happen at midnight, but about an hour later:

At 1:18 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Regina General Hospital, Brynlee Anne Fredlund was born, making her Regina’s first baby of the year. She weighed six pounds, 14 ounces.

Her parents Kaitlyn and Dylan Fredlund — are from Moosomin.

According to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, “everyone is doing well.”

Brynlee shares her birthday with an exclusive club of New Year’s babies born in Regina.

Last year’s first baby of the year, Amelia Mae McCaskill, was born at 5:51 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2024 at Regina General Hospital.

In 2023, the first baby born in Regina was named Kaia, and came into the world at 1:09 a.m. at Regina General Hospital.

In 2022, baby girl Jemma was born at 1:35 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Regina General Hospital to parents Jessie and David.

In 2021, Regina welcomed its first baby at 2:13 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Veronica Rae Holzer was born to Karla and Dylan Holzer at the Regina General Hospital.
